What Causes Irregular Periods And Lower Backache?

Namaste sir. I m 44 year old. I had very regular periods all these years with a cycle of 24-25 days periods with normal bleeding. Now, for the last six months, its irregular. Means, one month 24-25 days and another month 30-32 days. After this, I didn t have period for two months. I thought this may be menopause. But after two months of gap, I had my periods with prolonged bleeding but normal bleeding for the last one and a half month. Further, along with this i developed unbearable pain in lower back and abdomen. Immediately I went to doctor who advised me pause MF. After taking 4-5 tablets the bleeding has stopped but the lower back pain and abdominal pain is still killing me severely. I got my ultrasound as per doctors advise. My uterus endometrium thickness is 15mm. Pls tell me why this lower back and abdominal pain... Besides endometrium....... What is my health status.... Please advise me...

Hi I think you should go for evaluation first. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin level done to find if there is any other cause of irregular periods. You can also do a serum FSH Level to see if you are in perimenopausal state. If bleeding persists, you should go for an endometrial biopsy to rule out any endometrial pathology. You may need some hormonal treatment. Talk to your doctor regarding this. Hope it helps.
