What Causes Irregular Periods After Recovering From Vaginal Infection?
Hi doctor, I am a 29 year old married girl, got married in last may. Recently I had vaginal yeast infection. I consulted a doctor and she gave me AF kit tablet and vaginal suppositories. I used it and everything got cleared up. Last month my periods was delayed by 5 days.that is I got after 32 days compared to previous month. This time I have got for just 21 days gap. If not my periods would be very regular between 27-28 days. Why has this happened? Is it due to yeast infection? I am worried.
Hello dear. Yeast infections may be able to cause menstrual irregularities. Candida, the yeast organism that causes human infection, contain an estrogen binding receptor protein. This protein produced by Candida locks onto estrogen specifically. This is what some studies say.
So if the same thing is continuing during your next periods also kindly consult your gynecologist.
But in any case yeast infection will clear up completely once the vaginal Ph becomes acidic again, in a matter of couple of months. So do not worry.
Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you. All the best With warm regards Dr Sanjay Kini
