What Causes Irregular Bowel Movements With History Of Hysterectomy?

Im fourty two years old , I had a partial hysterectomy in feb with lots of complications, nicked bladder, minor one, they cut my left ureter tube, left the vaginal fold open and put a bladder sling in improperly, my body was leaking urine from top of vaginal fold due to ureter tube cut, which required a second surgery three weeks later by a urologist to repair damages and take our bladder sling, my question is Ive always kinda had problems being regular with my bowel movements but since surgeries its gotten progressively worse, I drink plenty, plenty of fruits and veggies, try stool softeners, colon clenses, pro biotics, yogurt, fiber supplements etc and will go days without going at all,o is this a complication due to trauma inside ? what can I do to help be regular and normal again?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of being 42 years old, had partial hysterectomy with complications of cut in bladder, ureter and causing vaginal leakage of urine which was repaired later by an Urologist. Since the surgery your bowel movement pattern has changed to no motion for days together in spite of plenty of water, veggies, stool softeners, colon cleans, yogurt, probiotics, fiber supplements.
The cause can be as follows:
- Trauma to the nerve supply of the colon due to complicated surgeries.
- Change body clock as everything else changes during 2 surgeries, the nil orally period, retraining of the bowel and so on.
I would advise you the following>
Contrast enhanced CT scan of the whole abdomen.
Colon manometry study and neurological studies.
Colonoscopy and biopsy if required.
Proper clinical evaluation and examination may get you the proper diagnosis and a plan for treatment.
Till then continue the medicines as you are already taking.
