What Causes Irregular And Heavy Vaginal Bleeding?

I am female of almost 19 years of age and I was concerned because I been bleeding for almost a week but very very lightly but I know it s not my period because I m not cramping or my back doesn t hurt what can it be? Also I am very, very irregular on my period and I been having a horrible sharp pain right next to my belly button on the right hand side. Can you please help?

If you do not believe this is your period and you are currently sexually active then you need to be assessed, especially since you are having pain.

This assessment would include a physical examination and ultrasound. This is to rule out ectopic pregnancy or issues related to the ovaries eg ovarian cyst (this occur even if not sexually active).
