What Causes Intermittent Pain And Pressure In The Ear?

When I wasn't paying attention during dodgeball yesterday, someone threw the ball and hit me pretty hard in my ear. The ball was only made of foam but I got hit pretty hard. It doesn't hurt as much but I can barely hear out of it and I have Microtia in my other ear so I only have 30% hearing in that ear so right now I can barely hear it when people talk to me. I feel a intermediate amount of pressure in my ear. When I hiccup or do anything like that it starts to hurt and the pressure becomes worse. Do I need to go to my ENT? If so what could be wrong with my ear?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that due to getting hit with the dodge ball there has been traumatic injury to the inside of the ear and as you already have Microtia that is an underdeveloped outer ear also known as Pinna, both the conditions have led to n increased hearing loss..
As there is pain and pressure in ear after getting hit along with loss of hearing there is a possibility that you have got raumatic injury to the ear drum leading to perforation..
It is a matter of concern and you should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case if there is perforation and it is small, a course of antibotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, decongestants and antibiotic and analgesic ear drops can relieve..
In case of large perforation surgical correction that is Tympanoplasty can be advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
