What Causes Intermittent Fever?

My 14 mo old son has fever but his hands and feet are cold. He started this early morning with 101.3 fever. I gave him tylenol and it goes down to 99s but fever comes back again. He does not have colds. Nobody is sick at home. He still eat but not much for milk or other fluids. He plays when fever goes down but cranky again when fever is up. Should I be worried.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The fever may be the early symptom in an on coming infection. The other symptoms may start within 24 to 48 hours.

It is possible that it may be only the common cold but you would need to monitor for the appearance of additional symptoms pointing to the source of the fever.

Continue giving him the antipyretic medications.

I hope this helps
