What Causes Intermittent Bleeding With Heavy Flow?

My husband and i are trying to concieve our 2nd child. I was a week late starting my period. My period started on saturday and was very very heavy, the heaviest its ever been. On Sunday my period stopped and then started again but was extremely light for 3 days. I had an std check and it came back negative. Also I had a home pregnancy test that came back a faint positive but three negative blood tests. I need to try to figure out what's going on. My obgyn can't see me until June and my husband is military so to go anywhere off post I have to have a referral. The ER just did the blood work and std check. What Could be going on?

Hello
thanks for using health care magic

You will need to do a pelvic ultrasound to rule out uterine fibroid
and ovarian cysts. Uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts are known
to cause alterations in bleeding patterns in women.

Uterine fibroids when symptomatic such as causing heavy menses,
causing infertility etc needs surgery as treatment especially in young
women.

Ovarian cyst could be first of all be treated by hormones and if no effect, surgery will be indicated.
