What Causes Inter Menstrual Bleeding While On Contraceptive Pills?

Hi, I came off my contraception pill and was off for about 3-4 months. I decided to restart my pill and have been taking it for just under 3 weeks now. In these 3 weeks I have had very frequent periods. I had a period a week and half ago and was off for 2 days, and I ve woke up this morning and I have another period. Is this to do with me restarting the pill again after having a few months off it as I m a little worried. Thanks

Hi I think it can be due to breakthrough bleeding. But you should check if you are taking pills regularly or not. If yes, then get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of irregular periods. If everything is fine, it is a side effect of pills. You can take some medicines like tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. It will resolve on its own.
