What Causes Intense Pain In The Heel Of The Foot?

I am having problems with my feet.I wear orthotics (sp) but the bottom of my feet by the ball of my foot feels like I m walking on rocks where I m standing, sitting and laying down. I am a diabetic but I can feel my toes, feet etc. X-rays showed no arthritis or other problems. Why does it hurt so much?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query with us.

I have read through your query and I can understand your concern.
From what you have described, it looks to be like a plantar fascitis, wherein degenerative irritation of the plantar fascia happens causing the pain. There are some conservative measures that I would advice you to do:
- You are required to avoid long periods of standing
- try to lose weight
- Apply ice packs over the heel area after any long standing activity or at the end of the day
- Also soaking your feet in warm saline water at night relieves pain
- Can take pain killers like ibuprofen whenever needed.

hope this helps.
Kindly revert back to us for any further queries.
Thank you
