What Causes Inflammation In Hand While Suffering From Superficial Thrombophlebitis?

I developed superficial thrombosis in an iv site in my hand 10 weeks ago. It became very inflamed and sore 4 weeks later and I was put on antibiotics. The inflammation went away but the clots remained. Now 10 weeks later the area is inflamed again and very painful and I am physically sick. Is there a reason to be concerned?
