What Causes Inflammation And Soreness Of Gums And Lips?
The last few days my gums/lip have been sore to touch and red. It's just a fairly small portion on the lower right side. I went to the dentist about 2 1/2 weeks ago for a cleaning. Is it possible that maybe something then triggered the inflammation and soreness?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that you have inflammation of the mucosa inside mouth leading to soreness and redness and is pointing towards Gingivostomatitis.. It can be due to a number of causes like deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, viral infection caused by herpes virus and can lead to formation of small fluid filled blisters, stress, acid reflux, physical trauma etc.. You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests and oral swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. As of now you can apply numbing gel over the sore areas.. Do warm saline gargles.. Take a multivitamin tablet daily.. Avoid spicy and very hot foods.. Drink plenty of water and take a soft diet..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
