What Causes Increase In HCG Levels After Abortion?

Hi I just found out I'm pregnant last Sunday I took two home pregnancy test and both came out positive. I went to two different clininc and came out positive as well I went to do a ultrasound and they didn't see anything so I got worried and went to the hospital they did a blood test on Thursday and my HCG was at 550.1 and the doctor said I lost my baby so they told me to come back the next day (Friday) and went take another blood test to compare both HCG level and the results went to 892.2 is that a good thing? the doctor said that's a good sign in one day! Also, On the paper it showed <5 IU/L Non pregnant??? How is that possible I took 4 testes and all positive. I have no bleeding no cramps everything is fine. I have an irregular period and my last period was August 8, 2010 ..please help me

Since you have irregular cycles, it is clear that you have ovulated late. You are pregnant. there is no doubt about it. The increase in HCG level in one day is very good.
It is natural that doctors wouldn't see anything on ultrasound at this stage. By internal ultrasound pregnancy is visualised when HCG level is around 1500. By abdominal ultrasound pregnancy is visualised when HCG level is around 5000. So relax. Enjoy your pregnancy. Go for ultrasound next week. By then doctors should be able to see pregnancy in the uterus.
