Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Your description of the symptoms indicate
dementia. Could be related to age or be part of a disease process. Proper evaluation and clinical examination is necessary.
*does she have any other medical issues or take any medications?
*does anyone in her family have any psychological issues?
*are there conversations in which full time participates and is aware of what is happening or is she always talking about irrelevant other 'not at the moment' things?
*is she able to take care of herself?
I recommend :
-a physician consult
- a
neurologist and
psychiatrist consult
-blood tests (
complete blood count, electrolytes, blood
glucose levels, kidney and liver function tests)
-urine analysis
-CT brain.
MRI of the brain may be required.
Based on the clinical findings and test results a diagnosis and treatment plan will be made.
Try to converse about current events.
Loneliness and isolation may also trigger self talking and altered memories.
She should go out as much as she can (preferably with company).
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
