hello... i have a 7-month old daughter (full term and average birth weight). her right eye tend to turn outwards when she s not focusing on anything or when she stares long at something or when she s honing on a sound she can t find the source of . but when i catch her attention or something else catches her attention, her eyes align okay. we had her checked by an ophthalmologist and her vision is fine within normal development for babies. her retina was looked into and nothing abnormal but we were referred to a retina specialist to have her developing retina blood vessels checked. particularly that eye where the doc thinks still have undeveloped blood vessels... is that necessary? since after all the baby is still young and actually developing? to add, i m 35 years old and my husband also says my right eye also has the tendency but only slightly and almost unnoticeable and usually when i m tired or when i come out of a darkened room into a lighted room. and in some pictures with flash. could this be hereditary or something else? thank you!
Hello I reviewed the history. These symptoms indicate squint and it requires evaluation by ophthalmologist to find out the type of squint and treatment accordingly. The presence of underdeveloped blood vessels indicate a condition called as retinopathy of prematurity seen in premature babies. Since your daughter is normal and born at full term this condition can be unlikely but do consult another eye doctor for examination and confirmation of diagnosis and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
