My wife had a heamorhhage last July and underwent cramiotomy, she was under sedation for more than a month & now she recovered from that. She remember everything & she can talk and walk if someone holds her. But her right had has not got any movement yet. We did a cerebral angeo and it was all normal, does it mean that though it will take some time she will recover? She is undergoing physcio therapy and is improving her right leg. She is worried about her had. The heammorhage was a post delivery.
Hello ! I understand your concern. In my opinion the hemorrhage has been in the brain area responsible for the hand and leg movement. The fact that her leg has recovered more than her hand means that it has been a cortical hemorrhage ,affecting more the motor control of the leg. There are different theory to the brain damage during brain hemorrhage. One is related to the toxicity of blood components to the brain tissue. Another theory explains it by the pressure of blood into the brain tissue. So the angiography is normal . It means that there is no risk of rebleeding from a structural lesion of the brain blood vessels. Unfortunately there is not much to do , to make the hand as it was. I recommend a lot of physiotherapy . It is the mos important think to do, which have been proved to be helpful. Thank you for using HCM! Best wishes, Dr. Abaz Quka
