What Causes Hungry Feeling When On Acai Berry And Colon Cleanse Diet?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...Sorry just lost you, have recently started taking some meds for stress, and also acai berry and colon cleanse but that isn't doing much, but I seem to be permanently annoyingly hungry. Any ideas?

You are hungry because you are not providing the body with the daily calories needed to function. This is not an effective way to lose weight on a long term basis.

You didn't happen to mention the medication you are taking for stress, but drugs in that category typically stimulate hunger.

Despite the claims made for Acai berry suppressing the appetite, it clearly is not working in your situation. To decrease hunger you need to do things that decrease gherlin, the hunger hormone, increase leptin - the satiety hormone. Do this through increased fiber (soluble), eliminating added sugars, decreasing saturated fat, exercising 250 minutes per week using cardio and resistance training, eating fruits/vegetables while avoiding juices, getting adequate sleep and maintaining good stress control. Pills, fad diets have never worked for anyone for very long.
To decrease hunger:
1) Add more oats, oatmeal, cheerios, small portions of lentils/beans
2) Do not watch ads about food
3) Drink a large glass of water before you eat
4) Eat small, frequent, low calorie/high protein meals/snacks throughout the day
5) Don't eat at night, give in to sugar cravings or binge on carbohydrates.

Without knowing any further information about you, I hope the above general suggestions clarify your situation and motivate you to utilize a "lifestyle approach" to living a clean, healthy life where you can lose the weight you desire to lose.

Kind Regards, Kathy Shattler, MS,RDN
