What Causes Hoarse Throat?

Hi, my throat is very red, and hurts, I'm very hoarse, pretty much lost my voice, I do have a little cough, every now and then, no fever, but my body aches and I feel tiered. Also, I don't have a fever but my body is very hot to the touch. I have been like this for 2 days now, my tonsils are not swollen as of yet but back of throat is very red.

Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

Looking at your symptoms ,you are probably suffering from Inflammation in throat(Pharyngitis) and Inflammation in Larynx-Voice Box(Laryngitis).

You may find relief by taking Analgesic and Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen,Antacid like Rantac,Antihistaminic like Cetrizine,Cough expectorant like Ambroxol if it is a productive cough or Cough Suppressant like Dextromethorphan if it is a dry, irritating cough.

Also follow the below lifestyle measures:
Voice rest-It is a must as excessive use of voice during speaking will further increase inflammation in your voice box.Don't shout or whisper.Talk only when it is neccesary.Talk softly after taking deep breath.
Avoidance of cold, spicy and oily food.
Drinking lots of fluids(warm).Drinking hot tea with Lemon, ginger and honey will also help.Wam turmeric milk will also help.
Avoid dust,smoke and other pollutants.
Warm saline gargles.
Steam inhalation.

If after following above measures, your symptoms are not improving, then it would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist Doctor.

Hope this answers your question.Get well soon.
