I have been suffering with a severe skin condition for 15 years. It starts with hives in the lymp nodes, systematically spreads over my entire body. My skin is swollen and beet red. It is resistant to treatment. I ve been hospitalized for it in the past. It has yet to be diagnosed. I have been tested for lupus and allergies. I have had two flare ups of Epstein Barr. I have Hiroshima s Thyroid disease, depression/anxiety but primarily anxiety/panic disorder. I had hormonal issues since menus at 11 years old. I had chronic reproductive issues including PID which I took lots of anti-inflammatory meds to control the pain. alapesia, etc What type of doctor can I see to diagnois this health issue. It flares once a year. Prolonged stress is a component. I just heard of the ALCAT test which test for intolerance and sensitivities to food, food additives/coloring, antibiotics/anti-inflammatory drugs, environmental toxins, and various types of molds. Please advice. I live in Broward County, FL

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history you are having urticaria.
My treatment advice is -
1. Avoid fast food and food with artificial colors for 2 months.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
