What Causes Hives Like Rashes On The Body While On Clindamycin?
My husband, age 72 is in the process of getting implants. He has the screws? In the upper part of his mouth and had to go on clindamycin to prevent infection, which has worked for 10 days. This is day 9 and he has what looks like measles practically all over his body, hives maybe? And whelps. Could this medication caused it? Did not know I had to pay. Please disregard question. Thank you.
It seems that your mother had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic Clindamycin given to you leading to itchy rashes, hives and urticaria or itching.. It is one of the common presentation of allergy to antibiotic that leads to rashes and itching.. Many a times when the reaction progresses gradually as the antibodies against the allergens are gradually formed in the body and the reaction can be resolved after taking anti allergics as well as at times oral steroids can also be given.. You should also immediately stop taking the antibiotics and consult your treating physician and get evaluated and he can give you injectable steroid to relieve the symptoms faster.. You can also be advised to apply steroid ointment over the rashes.. Doing cool compresses and applying Calamine lotion can also help..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
