What Causes High Prolactin Levels Along With Irregular Periods?

I have high prolactin levels with irregular periods, tender breast, weight gain and slight headaches. The base of my head is tendor to the touch but not really painful.. My body still has normal pms symptoms on a monthly basis and occasionally I will have some spotting.

All my other hormone levels are normal and I am not pregnant

What would cause this with someone who has been normal all my 27 years of life.

Hello,
I have gone through the query and understood your concern. Your symptoms are relevant with the high hormone levels. This high Prolactin level can be caused with excess production either from a normal gland or from a Prolactinoma. Thus, you need to have further investigation to help plan further management. An MRI of the brain should be done and if needed, contrast studies may be done. When the cause is excess production from a normal gland, medication is used. For tumors, treatment depends on the type. Hope this helps.
