i hae a rash on my side and its very itchy iv had it for about 3 weeks its sore and red, i thought it could have been shingles but the doc this morning said its not and its either fungal or a reaction to something, my main symptom aside from the rash is that i am falling asleep constantly, she did my bloody sugar by pricking my finger it was 8.6 i had however eaten loads of biscuits and a cup of tea about an hour and a half before she is saying i may be diabetic and its because of my weight what do you think would the food have had an effect on the result and what can i do?
Dear sir i can understand your concern in my opinion its very difficult to diagnose a diabetes in a single random testing unless until its too high. the rash in your hair might be due to saeboric dermatitis. the level of blood sugar 8.6 mmol/lit is a slightly borderline value. i suggest you to take up investigations like 1.fasting blood sugar 2.glucose tolerance testing this test can rule out the presence of diabetes. i suggest to maintain your BMI around 25 to keep diabetes away. both time of the test and type of food taken before the test will influence the test results. Hope this explains regards DR vamsi Diabetologist
