Hi. I m a 15 year old boy and currently I m a little scared. Ever since last night I ve had a increase in heart rate and I can also feel it and it feels strong. Kind of like after you run, but not as intense. It started last night, and it took me forever to fall asleep. I m currently trying to sleep right now and it is still keeping me awake. I ve read online that it may ne linked to amxiety but I am not sure. I d really appreciate your answer as I am scarred right now. Also some things to include is that I do not excersise often and am a little overwheight. I plan to start excersising more though as this has really brought to my attention that I really should start doing it more. Thank you!
Hello welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Most of the time palpitations are due to anxiety only. It can occur also during excitement might be during dreams, exercise or even in thin individuals also.
So, at present you don't need to worry. Whenever this episode occur you need to keep calm and drove your attention towards other things.
However in some of great heart problems also you can get palpitations like rhythm disorders or valvular diseases. So kindly also consult your doctor and ask for 2d echo study and 24 hrs ecg monitoring if necessary. Reduction of weight will also help.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
