What Causes High Cholesterol Level With A History Of Pulmonary Embolism?

my 48 year old husband had a pulmonary embolism 6 years ago he is on lifelong warfarin as the cause of this was due to lupus antibodies present in the blood. He now has high cholestorol and has this week been put on to medication. He was a heavy smoker before the p.e. and quit smoking until recently and has now started smoking cigars. What are the implications of this on his condition
