What Causes High Body Temperature Along With Excessive Sweating?

I m inquiring about my body being so hot. I am in menopuse, but my body temperature is hot just because it is. I sweat profusely also. I am pre-diabetic, menopausal, severe ostearthritis in both knees, and over weight. I am working on loosing weight and improving me overall diet. But what could the heat from my body be caused by and the profuse sweating?!? Please give me some direction. It is embarrassing. BTW, I am currently on the following medications: metformin 500mg 4 per day, nabumetone 500mg 2 per day, progesterone 100mg 2 per day, Atorvastatin 20mg 1 per day and Zoloft 50mg 1 per day.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there,
You seem to be undergoing something called as hot flashes. It is one of the features associated with menopause. From time to time you would feel your body radiating heat and you sweating in response to cool it. The number of episodes will eventually fall and in some time you will find relief. It is fairly common and you have to withstand it through.

Hope this helps,
Dr Arun A
