What Causes High Blood Sugar Levels?

Hi Doctor,
I'm a breast cancer patient and it has been about 2 years and 6 months since I finished my surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.I've been under the medicine tamoxifen 20 mg for 2 years 6 months.I have the problem that when i dont eat any sort of sugary food,my blood sugar levels are high.It fluctuates between 120-126.By walking and exercises also my sugar levels dont go down.I wanted to know whether it is like that because of my medicines or treatment i was gone through?I have no strength all day as I have no sugary food. Some times i take low calorie rice and i use sugar free for tea and others.Still sugar levels dont go down.Is it because of my medications? What can be a solution?Should i ignore till i finish tamoxifen.I have to continue till 2013.Please reply doctor. My present fasting blood sugar level is 126 mg and post blood sugar is like nearly 180 mg.

hi welcome to hcm
your fasting blood sugar is 126 ok and your postprandial blood sugar has to come down if i were your treating physician i would advice you to take voglibose twice daily along with your medications to reduce your postprandial blood sugar levels. i will advice you to do a hba1c test which will tell your sugar levels over 2-3 month period...
