What Causes High Blood Pressure?

I recently found out I have high blood pressure. I have not history of high BP and none anywhere in my family. I had everything checked two months ago today with all blood work included. At that time my BP was 133 over 85. After reviewing all the blood test results my doctor found I had low sodium so he told me to take salt tablets everyday, which I did. Three weeks later my BP was going up so I stopped taking the salt but it continued to go straight up until it ended up 176/115. My question is what do you feel could be the cause because one of the doctors don t think the salt is not the problem and where would you start?
