What Causes High WBC Count In Babies?

Hello sir , my son is 14 month's old and he is down with fever,severe cough and cold .. his blood report is showing that WBC's are normal in size annd shape and are over the limit i.e 15200 cells/cmm.WBC'S shows a DLC of Polymorphs-63%, lymphocytes-35%.,Eosinophils-02% Monocytes-00%. Hemoglobin is about 11.4gm%.Please let me know what's the reason for high count and what precautions should be taken further... fever is controlled with antibiotics now. pls revert soon.

Hi.. The blood report of your child shows increased polymorphs and raised wbc count. It suggests that their is some ongoing inflammatory process in the body. As the child has responded to the treatment you need not worry much about the reports. After all we treat the patients and not the reports. Reports will just give us some more clues. So at present I would suggest that you need not worry about the report
