Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband had a mild stroke on November 30. He was put on medicine for high blood pressure. He saw his family doctor as a followup and will see a neurologist the end of January. The first few weeks the medicine seemed to help. But for the last few days it has gone up. (120 to 160 for top number and high 90's for the bottom. He does not want to call the doctor today but just keep an eye on it. He is 63 years old. Should the doctor be called?
Hello, It is quite normal for antihypertensive drugs to loose their efficacy gradually. Your husband needs revision of his anti hypertension medicines. Since he had a stroke earlier,it is advised to consult the doctor immediately without waiting too much. It is very important that his blood pressure should remain below 120/80 mm of Hg. Thanks
