What Causes High ASO Titer Levels?
Hi doctor. My son (3,5 years old) has high ASO titer (current value is 488). In June 2016 he had positive test for streptoccocus and ASO titer was 1700. Our pediatritian gave him antibiotic for 10 days. In july 2016, ASO titer decreased and was 1200. Doctor gave him an extencillin injection to protect him from another infection (kindergarten). In september ASO titer was 400. Now, we went for control test to see what`s going on. ASO titer is now 488, so it is higer than in September and the bacteriological smear is negative. Could you please tell me some explanation. Does it mean that he has Streptococcus somewhere in the body or what? Many thanks.

welcome to hcm ...it is good that you have kept records of all tests ..as a rule the titre should come down as time passes ...please get your child ascessed by your local doctor as he may have been reinfected ...source has to be found and proper antibiotics given
