What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding?

I am a 70 year old female who is bleeding vaginally after seeing the OB-GYN on Monday because of unexplained vaginal bleeding 10 days before. She did a pap smear, a biopsy, and an ultra sound: showing I did not have a left ovary and a uterus with a thickened wall. She said to wait for a phone call this week and I asked what happens if I begin bleeding again. She said if it was heavy, then go to ER. I just put a pad on because I am bleeding more. Should I contact her office and let her know what is happening. My husband is not at home right now.

Hi, I think if you are bleeding heavily, you should consult your doctor. You may need some medicines like tranexamic acid eigher orally or injection to stop the bleeding. I think in your case there can be a suspicion of some endometrial pathology. So, you will have to wait for the biopsy report. Till then you can take some iron supplements also. Hope it helps.
