What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding?

Hello!i commenced my menstration on Thursday and usually by today ( Monday ) it would be over, but last night I felt some stomach pain and today my bleeding is a lot. I had a clot the size of a golf ball so I took an ivphorphen and am now in bed resting. What is this and is it serious?

I understand you concern
Heavy menstrual bleeding need investigations.
Following are the causes: hormonal imbalance, poly, cervix and endometrium dysplasia, ectopic pregnancy if you are sexulally active, fibroid/myoma.
I would suggest to consult the gynecologist and undergo vaginal examination, reproductive hormone analysis, USG scan, endometrial biopsy/PAP smear.
Progesterone pill/shot, tranexamic acid will help
Meftal spas for pain
Take rest with pillow under the leg, maintain proper pelvic hygiene
