What Causes Heaviness In Eyelids?

Hello, i am 32 female and never had any health issues but for the last 6 weeks or so I have been feeling like my eyelids were extremely heavy and I d want to keep my eyes shut all the time. I also feel pressure in my forehead and behind both eyes. Eyes feel very heavy and dry and it also feels like my eyelids are so heavy and numb that they are falling on my eyes. Went to get my eyes checked at optician and its all fine and nurse at my surgery said it might be sinus which to be honest doesn t feel like it at all. Its very frustrating and it came to the point that I had to pull over today and close my eyes as I couldn t keep them open any longer. Any suggestions what can possibly be causing this? Thank you very much. Monica

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

From your symptoms,it seems that you may be having problem either of the eyes or the nose and paranasal sinuses. It would be difficult to comment exactly what is causing you the problem without a physical examination.

If i were your treating doctor,i would have prescribed you some drugs like fexofenadine for a period of about 15-20 days along with steam inhalation with menthol thrice daily.A nasal drop containing oxymetazoline would also help you.
I would also like to advise you an x-ray of the Paranasal sinuses.

Review with these reports.
Also consult your GP for a clinical examination.

Take care
