General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

IUD Mirena is a device that is slowly releasing Levonorgestrel, a female hormone that will help prevent pregnancy. It is true that tender breasts are commonly occurring while on this device.

However, you are 42 years old, the life period when peri/menopause problems would start.

At this point, a hormonal balance and further evaluation by OG specialist are advised to rule out peri/menopause issues.

Hope it was of help!
