What Causes Heat Rashes On The Back And Stomach?

I have a skin problem, acts like prickly heat but pops up on back sometimes, stomach sometimes, upper legs sometimes. It floats around the body randomly and starts with one quick starting almost bite feeling spot and blossems in minutes. Best temporary cure so far is an icebag. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
Heat rashes usually resolve by themselves. What you can do is prevent them from occurring.
If I were your treating doctor,I would recommend,
-Keep the area away from sweating. After work, walking, any activity, wash the area with soap and water and clean dry.
-Avoid applying any thick moisturizer.Instead talcum powder like prickly heat powder can be applied.
-Local application of ice pack for 15-20 minutes,3-4 times in a day.
- Wear loose and cotton clothing.
-Antihistaminics like cetrizine can be taken for 2-3 days.
-if still the the rash persists, hydrocortisone ointment can be applied (prescription drug)
Keep an eye on symptoms like fever in which case you will need to visit physician.
Hope this information helps.
Thanks and regards.
