What Causes Heart Palpitations?

Hi i was wondering if you could associate these symptoms with a diagnosis.Ive been suffering from them for the past 4 months. While im trying to fall asleep i feel as though an adrenaline rush goes through my body and it feels like i stop breathing, heart palpitations, and even slow a slow heart beat at times. After this happens i cannot fall asleep for the next 2 to 4 hours. Its gotten to the point where im afraid to fall asleep and i cant find anything online that explains these symptoms.

Hello and welcome to 'Ask a Doctor' service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Are these things preceded by any weird thoughts or panic in your mind, or stress. This is not any particular heart disease it's just an anxiety and excessive awareness of your heart beats. Try to ignore these things and focus on sleep.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar Makode
