Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I was just in the ER 2days ago for palpitations. It was all benign. They did blood work and EKG. The next day while laying on my left side I can sometimes feel my heart thumping. It's not irregular just a little faster (I think) but pumping harder. Only for a second or two the back to normal. Is that part of the palpitations because I didn't feel it before I went to the Emergency room when I played on my left side.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Palpitation could be caused by many medical conditions. Some possible causes may include: -Ionic imbalances -Heart problems -Strong emotional responses, such as stress or anxiety -Strenuous exercise -Caffeine -Nicotine -Fever -Hormone changes associated with menstruation, pregnancy or menopause Unless the exact cause is identified, treatment can be very difficult.Treatment entails correcting the underlying cause. I will suggest you see the Doctor for more investigation if the problem happens again.Tests like serum electrolytes will be very useful. I will advise you try the following: *Reduce stress or anxiety *Avoid stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, some cold medicines and energy drinks, can make your heart beat quickly or irregularly. *Avoid illegal drugs like cocaine and amphetamines.. *Have you BP checked Hope this will help Best regards
