What Causes Heart Palpitations During Gastroenteritis?

I've been battling gastroenteritis for the pass 3 days, and last night I was finally able to sleep soundly. I noticed my stool returned to normal and the vomiting ended as well. Yet heart palpitation continues and I'm finding myself having to take in deep breathes rather frequently, is this a normal symptom?
