What Causes Hearing Of Heartbeat In An Ear?
I am hearing my heartbeats in my ear when I lay down at night to go to sleep. I also have a continual sound in my ears that sounds like an electrical wire buzzing or air swooshing past my ears that goes on all the time. Is it an ear infection or a partially occluded carotid artery. I am 62 years old, prediabetic and weigh 125 lbs. There is a history of heart attacks and diabetes in my family. My father suffered a heart attack at 42 and my brother at 58.

Hi, thanks for your query. As per your history, diabetes and HTN are one of the cause for tinnitus.
Apart from this, any inner ear disease also can cause this. This needs clinically evaluation and treatment. Empirically you can take betahistine tablet 30 mg bd for 3 weeks. If symptoms persists, then please consult with your doctor and get evaluated. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
