What Causes Headaches, Vomiting And Blood In Bowels?

There was blood in my boyfriends stool for several days last week. He says it's along the side of his stool, and his anus doesn't hurt so I don't think its hemorrhoids. He told me it has since stopped, but I'm still concerned because he refuses to see a doctor. He has been getting headaches every few days for the past couple weeks, and they are bad enough that he has to lay in bed for several hours. His stomach has also been hurting but he hasn't been vomiting as far as I know. I can tell he is in a lot of discomfort when this happens. He definitely has a problem with alcohol (he gets very drunk at least four nights a week), and I'm concerned he may be having liver failure or some other alcohol related issue. He refuses to spend the money at a doctor since he has no insurance. He also has neuropathy in his legs (from doing too much nitrous-oxide when he was a teen,) although I'm pretty sure it isn't related. What should I do and what do you think is wrong with him? He has said he felt completely better the past few days but I don't know whether or not I should still be concerned or if I should make him go to the hospital.
