What Causes Headaches Along With Cough And Runny Nose?

I have had flu like symptoms for over a week now. These include headache, cough with green phlegm, eardrum swelling, runny nose, and fever. After a week I got eye infection as well. I consulted a doctor yesterday and she prescribed me antibiotics along with eyedrops. I have also been taking flu tablets which are available over-the-counter. I still don t feel any better and my loss of hearing keeps transferring from one year to the other. Any suggestions?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of headaches along with cough and runny nose which seems to be due to sinusitis i.e sinus infection, travelling of infection through sinuses and it could be due to poor immunity of body.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid intake of outside food and sharp spicy food substances and consult ENT specialist for proper examination without any delay to prevent the further complication. Doctor may order X-ray paranasal sinuses along with nasal endoscopy and prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin at least for 5 days. Avoid intake of cold beverages. You should do warm saline gargles and take decongestant and nasal saline rinses as well. Take paracetamol every 6 hourly. For now take steam thrice a day to relieve the congestion. You should avoid excessive bending forward.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
