What Causes Headache, Dizziness And Difficulty To Balance Post Meditation?

I have been meditating for about 2 years.... a few days ago I found a you tube meditation on opening your third eye ... the pineal gland.... it has tones that are supposed to activate the pineal gland. I got a bit of a headache, which they say that is a sign it is opening...but I woke up the second day with signs of vertigo...off balance...if I bent over. stumbled a few times...,,this has been going on for two days now ...do you know if there is a correlation.. I was at my ob/gyn today...she said could be an ear infection..i have no signs of ear infection or sinus infection....she said to call my primary if it is still happening by Monday....do you think it is related to meditation?.....the only other change in my life was I got a cortisone shot in my heel on Tuesday. thx

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have headache and dizziness and you have headache, dizziness and difficulty to balance post meditation. The symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo , Vertigo may also be caused by inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection , meniere's disease , acoustic neuroma , sinusitis and multiple sclerosis . The symptoms you mention are probably not occurring due to meditation , but still your should consult expert. In some case the infection spread through eustachian tube and cause ear infection . I suggest you to consult with ENT specialist for proper checkup so that there will not be any further complication . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , MRI , blood test , audiometery test , rotatory chair test and ECG to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe ant emetic drug , sedatives , antibiotics , decongestants ,drain sinus and some ear aid . For now avoid bending foreword , take steam , drink ginger tea thrice a day and do light exercises daily . Stop doing meditation for few days until the problem goes away.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
