Neurologist, Surgical 's  Response
Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. The features in your friend do not seem normal. It needs evaluation. Recurrent vomiting, staring in blank, forget fullness, dizziness may be due to

: brain damage or
: post traumatic stress disorder

Brain damage usually present with other signs like focal weakness/speech difficulty/fits/visual blurring. The diagnosis can only be confirmed by consulting neurologist/suregon and getting CT head done to image brain. CT head detects bleed in brain and any ischemia (poor blood supply area) in brain.

For this, you must consult ER as soon as possible. Treatment may include medical treatment only or surgery if large bleed causing pressure in brain. As your friend is at home, conscious and able to do few activities, it is less likely that she will be having sever brain injury or bleed which needs surgery.

: Another cause is post traumatic stress disorder. It is a psychiatric illness which usually occurs after accidents. It manifests as depression, anxiety, forgetfulness, behavioural problems, social withdrawal, decreased activity, nightmares. Diagnosis can be confirmed by ruling out other causes and psychological evaluation.

If her symptoms resemble it and her investigations are normal, it can be suspected. Treatment includes

; consultation with Psychiatrist
; Family support
; Do not ask or mention about accident or any other thing which hurts her
; Indulge her in some fun activities
; Give her bed rest
; Take her to some other place for vacation
; Discuss her problems and try to solve it

Hope it will help her. Take care.

Thanks.
