What Causes Hard Black Stools?

For the last 2 days, I have had hard black stools. Went to the doctor today, he said I look healthy to him and asked me to do a stool sample and sent to pathology. It's Sunday today and everything is closed, I am quite worried, never have had that before. I have no pain in my stomach or anything like that. The only thing I cam think of is eating too many cherries about a week ago and drinking lots of cranberry juice for the last 3 days. Could it be just too many cherries? ( I usually do get constipated and go to the toilet 2-3 times a week. Thank you

Hi and thank you for asking.
you are reporting to have used cherry and cranberry and this is sufficient to get black stools.
the fact that you have hard stools make me think you don't have serious issues like melena.
