What Causes Gum Abscess And Bad Breath?

Have had a drainage coming from an area in the upper gum where I used to have a wisdom tooth. Tooth was taken out a few years ago. The drainage started about six months ago. Started with a sore gum and then began oozing. It has a lot of puss and drains out a little at a time. Makes my breath smell really bad and is noticed in the air in my vicinity.

Drainage from the gum from the area from where the wisdom tooth was extracted can be most probably due to any left over root piece that must be left in the socket only..

Gradually they start erupting towards the surface can can cause flaring up of infection and causing pus formation..

Bad smell from breath is also due to pus discharge and infection..

So first of all consult an Oral Physician and get an x ray of the area done..
If there is any remaining root piece then it has to be removed under local anaesthesia..
For now you can take a course of antibiotics and painkillers by consulting an Emergency room..
Gargle with antiseptic flavoured mouthwash..
Do warm saline gargles..
