What Causes Greyish Tongue While Having Flu Symptoms?

Hello, I am experiencing flu like symptoms at the moment, aches/fever coughing (dry) and runny nose. I also noted that my tongue is a greyish colour. I have been using a Buckleys cold/flu tablets. Would this explain the change in colour of my tongue?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain greyish discolouration of the tongue is not commonly a sign of any serious disease and can be due to poor oral hygiene and there is accumulation of food particles and medicines as well as due to bacterial and fungalovergrowth, while it can also be due to discolouration caused by dyes present in medication..
Nothing to worry, gargle with warm saline, gargle with 1:1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water, you can dip a soft toothbrush in the solution of hydrogen peroxide and water and clean your tongue gently..
Take hard food substances as it has frictional action and clean the tongue..

If the coating seems to be reducing you can continue with the same but in case of no improvement consult an oral physician and he can look for other conditions like oral thrush..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
