Hello,
I read your message carefully and understood your concern.
I noticed the following information:
- you have been on Amoxil treatment for
tooth abscess for 2 weeks
- you stopped taking it after two days of use because of stomach disturbance,
diarrhea, and
nausea.
- you have noticed green stools
- discomfort in left lower abdomen especially when on the move
- weakness and loss of appetite
I have to say that stopping the drug was the best decision to do. All that you are experiencing is due to the Amoxicillin's side effects.
In your case, Amoxil has developed gastrointestinal side effects with nausea, diarrhea, cramps,
abdominal pain and
colitis.
The antibiotic amoxicillin has altered the normal flora and this has created optimal conditions for the
Clostridium difficile to blow up with green stool diarrhea.
This bacteria is normally present in intestines but is harmless in a good immune system that controls its burst.
To prevent the infection with C. difficile take probiotics and lots of fluids. I think you are on time to do that. If the symptoms don't go back within a couple of days please see a doctor.
Sometimes, fever and bloody/pussy stool are present. Be aware to measure your temperature often.
Green stools can be due to diarrhea which moves the food too quickly throughout the intestine and does not give time to bile pigment to break down. Bile pigment is of green colors and colors the stools.
Please, if the symptoms do not go away within two days please see a doctor to treat the infection. A
stool test and culture and blood tests are needed then to prescribe more specific medications.
Hope this is helpful for you.
