What Causes Frequent Vomiting, Headache And Abdominal Pain In A Child?

Hello - My son is 10 years old...he woke up just before 6 am with a headache and nausea, and has thrown up 9 times since then (it s now 12:21pm). He says he has a lot of pain about one to two inches left of his belly button, and his head is still aching above each eye. He has been vaccinated for the flu. Any ideas about what is causing these symptoms?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of frequent vomiting, headache and abdominal pain which seems to be due to electrolyte imbalance in body due to viral infection leading to acute gastroenteritis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start treatment with combination of fluoroquinolones and ornidazole. You should get intravenous fluid administration as well. Drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate yourself. Visit gastroenterologist once and get it examined and start treatment after prescription. You should get barium meal study done if symptoms exaggerating. Avoid hot, sharp and spicy food. You can take banana on daily basis and light food. You should avoid taking dairy products in excess.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
