Thank you for your query.
Diabetes INSIPIDUS ( this is very different from
Diabetes Mellitus in which blood sugars are uncontrolled)
Diabetes Insipidus(DI) is caused by the decreased action of the Anti Diuretic hormone (
Vasopressin) .
This could result from a decreased production in the brain (central DI)or due to reduced sensitivity to ADH at the kidney level (nephrogenic DI)
ADH is responsible for retaining water in our body. When its action is deficient, large quantities of dilute urine with a low solute level (osmolality) can result .
This can be diagnosed by a urine test, blood test, vasopressin analogue challenge test and a
dehydration test .
Please see a pediatric
endocrinologist asap to effectively treat this condition. in the meantime keep him hydrated and monitor him closely.
If he becomes drowsy, lethargic, take him to the ER right away.
Hope I've helped.

Wish you both good health
