What Causes Frequent Urination And Drowsiness While Having High Blood Pressure?

My husband is 44 years old. Has had kidney stones several times in the past. He is bloated, thirsty, frequently urinates, 40 pounds weight loss in 4 months, tired and falls asleep in livingroom at night in 5 minutes time while in mid conversation a lot of things come to mind, and he will not go to the doctor. Also, he does have High Blood pressure.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Does he snore, if yes or even not, he is likely having obstructive sleep apnea, which is leading to drowsiness. For confirming this and knowing the severity he ll need polysomnography test. Treatment involves weight loss, regular exercises, low fat and low calorie. Also he needs cpap machine at home.

Regarding his urination and weight, most likely he is having high blood sugar, so his blood sugar should be urgently tested. Avoid sugary diet, drink plenty of oral fluids inspite of having frequent urination otherwise he will be dehydrated and picture will be complicated. Regular exercises and weight loss is must.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar Makode
