Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 22 months old she woke up and threw up milk and water, no fever or cold. A little later she threw up some yellow like stomache acid and saliva. She has since not really thrown up but spit up the yellow a couple more times. I called her pediatician and she said take her to emergency room but seems a little extreme.
It is possible that she may have a viral infection involving the gastrointestinal tract. This is one of the most common cause of vomiting in children.
Dehydration is the most serious complication and this is caused by decreased fluid intake as well as increased fluid loss. Signs and symptoms of dehydration are decreased urine output, crying with no tears, dry skin, excess drowsiness, increased pulse rate
Fluid and electrolyte replacement would be important , pedialyte can be used. Small amounts used frequently ( 1 tsp every 5 mins for an hour), if tolerated this is increased. If you are not comfortable or there are any signs of dehydration , she should be reviewed.
I hope this helps
